Charles Munka showcased a series of new canvases in Shanghai, China this past October for his Octagon exhibition at Naco Gallery.
Octagon was an eight canvas display, fusing styles from his Double Knock Out exhibition in Los Angeles and his previous live show paintings. This work was largely inspired by the concepts of 'Ba gua diagrams'. The Ba gua are eight diagrams used in Taoist cosmology to represent the fundamental principles of reality, seen as a range of eight interrelated concepts. Each consists of three lines, each line either "broken" or "unbroken," representing yin or yang, respectively.
This footage was shot during the week's preperation to opening night. Filmed and edited by Frédéric Henriques & Jean Brice Hubert for Flipmood.com, with music by Samiyam.
