ILLUM SPHERE (HOYA:HOYA, UK)
GUEST MIX FOR ANDREW MEZA'S BTS RADIO MASSIVELY POST DEADLINE
One of the more pleasent introductions I had last year was meeting Ryan Hunn (aka Illum Sphere). I didn't know much about him until we were arranged to do some shows together in Vienna and Athens last November. He instantly earned my respect during our first gig in Vienna. I stepped out for some air, only to walk back in the club and hear Hunn on the mic. "You into drum and bass? I'm gonna play some anyway."
A week after our Vienna gig, I got a file transfer from Hunn with two EPs titled "Long Live The Plan" and "The Incoming". The releases hit me without warning and became the surprising delights of '09. For debut releases, they were extremely solid from begining to end with fantastically arranged production. Since the EPs dropped, it's been nothing but full speed for Hunn.
Simply put, people are always asking me who to check for. This is one of them.
